David Rutigliano (R-Trumbull) received the unanimous endorsement of the Republican delegates as their candidate to represent the 123nd Assembly district of Trumbull at the Town Hall Thursday May 24. Standing before a group of enthusiastic supporters, Rep Rutigliano pledged to work hard to win the seat, emphasizing how residents of the district deserve a powerful and dedicated advocate. “I am truly honored and humbled by the support of the people of Trumbull. I have made it my mission at the State Capitol to always do what right is for the people I represent,” said Rutigliano. Representative Rutigliano serves on the Legislature’s Labor and Public Employees Committee, the General Law Committee, and the Regulation review Committee. He also serves as a Minority “Whip” When not serving Trumbull at the State Capitol, Representative Rutigliano, is a partner in a local restaurant group that includes the Sitting Duck Tavern in Trumbull and Stratford, Local Kitchen & Beer Bar and the SBC Restaurant in Milford. Rutigliano has risen through the leadership ranks at the capitol. He is seen as a new kind of leader; one that brings people together and focuses on problem solving. Rutigliano has influenced the budget process by advocating for common sense reforms, while protecting Trumbull Taxpayers Matt Caron, Chairman of the Trumbull Republican Town Committee, said of Rutigliano, “David is part of a new group of leaders that brings real world experience to the legislature, demonstrating a common-sense approach in tackling our states issues. Rep Rutigliano will continue to do and outstanding job on behalf of the citizens of Trumbull,” Rutigliano in his remarks called for Connecticut to accept this opportunity and change our future. “This year citizens of Connecticut have the opportunity to change course. We have the opportunity to start what will be a long process of repairing what has been broken, said Rep. Rutigliano. “With a new governor and a new legislature, we can begin to re-build our economy, re-build our infrastructure, and most importantly re-build our reputation. I am committed to being part of that process”. “I will also continue to focus on solutions that create opportunities for our young people, so if they choose they can stay here and start their own families,” said Rutigliano. “Connecticut does not always have to be last and on the losing end of things. If we can restore balance to our system of taxation, reform regulations, and fix our aging infrastructure we can turn things around. Connecticut has so much to offer if we could just set our economy free.” House Minority leader, Themis Klarides, also praised Rutigliano for his dedication and leadership ability “It is important that that we have the right team in place to make the necessary changes to get Connecticut fixed and back on its feet again, I can think of no one more qualified than David Rutigliano for the job.” David lives in the Tashua section of Trumbull with his wife of 28 years, Michele and his two sons, David and Joseph, both of whom attend Trumbull Public School, and their dog Brandi “Waffles”.
