Trumbull, CT - State Representative David Rutigliano was unanimously endorsed to represent the 123rd district of Trumbull in Connecticut’s House of Representatives.

“These are very challenging times,” said Rep. Rutigliano. “We have adapted with a compassionate and understanding of the complexities brought by the coronavirus, as we have witnessed its widespread negative impact. Through this I have witnessed positives -- our community genuinely working together to ensure we all get through this pandemic. Collaboratively, we seek common sense solutions that allow us to return to a more normalized life for our families.

“The stakes for Connecticut have never been higher.  We must have health outcomes on the forefront as we look to restore our economic confidence. Even before our current crises, Connecticut's economy had not fully recovered from the great recession due to multiple years of questionable economic policies.  We need someone in the room that will look out for working families, students, small businesses and job creators while plans are considered to rebuild our economy."

During the past legislative session, Rep. Rutigliano led the charge to keep control of schools here in Trumbull, as the administration considered forced regionalization.  He worked to stop a budget proposal that would have added pension costs to the Trumbull town budget that would have increased property taxes on every Trumbull household.  He also passed legislation to increase the penalties for those who sell opioids into the community.

“Representative Rutigliano has demonstrated a real concern for Trumbull families, he understands what it takes to raise a family in Connecticut, and how it can be a struggle at times.  I know he has our best interest at heart and I am confident he is the right leader to help lead us through this pandemic,” said Alison Squiccimarro, a Tashua Parent.

"I can’t think of anyone better suited to guide us through this economic crisis, David will ensure small business and job creators are represented as we rebuild and reopen," said Dave Pia, owner Associated Appliance.

It is essential that we work together to find our best way forward. These are some of the key priorities I plan to focus on for my campaign and in my next term as your state representative:
  • Continue to evaluate and address the historic health challenges that have impacted all of us. We must remain vigilant against coronavirus infection, and make decisions based on facts. We need to take care of our most vulnerable, while addressing the potential looming mental health crisis.
  • Ensure state funds addresses our dynamic education needs as we respond to the impact of school shutdowns on our students.
  • Thoughtfully reopen state and local economies, with an emphasis on recovery for working families and small businesses.
  • Set our state on a path of sustained fiscal success, and re-evaluate state budget priorities given the historic impact of coronavirus.
Over the last months, State Representative Rutigliano has launched resources for families and the community as we confront the global pandemic. These include multiple interviews with health experts regarding how to deal with the challenges of coronavirus. Please visit www.facebook.com/reprutigliano/ to view the resource videos.
As we begin this campaign, here is my commitment to you: “I will continue to listen; to create common sense policy; and work together to keep our community safe and healthy as we reopen and repair our economy.”
